Step 2

Write your buyer bio

Your buyer bio is a short paragraph about who you are. It isn't a love letter to the apartment. It shows the seller and the board that you're responsible and easy to approve. Below are three real bios from offers that won. You'll use them as a model, and AI will write yours.

How to do it

  1. Copy the three samplesClick Copy all three below. It copies all three bios, plus a short note telling the AI what to do.
  2. Paste them into an AI chatOpen whichever AI chat you use, start a new chat, and paste (Ctrl+V on a PC, ⌘+V on a Mac).
  3. Tell the AI about you and this apartmentRight after the paste, add a few lines so the bio is tailored to this offer:
    • Your names, and how you know each other if you're buying together
    • What you do for work, and for how long (steady work is what boards look for)
    • Where you live now and how long you've been in New York
    • A few things you love doing: hobbies, pets, favorite spots
    • The co-op building's name or address, and its neighborhood
    • Why this building and neighborhood fit your life (a line or two is plenty)
  4. Read it over, then send it to meMake sure every detail is true and sounds like you. Keep it to one or two short paragraphs, then email it to me: you@example.com

Sample bios

Sample 1
Jennifer and George are college sweethearts who have been married for two years. They currently live in an apartment on the Upper West Side, and they are very excited about the prospect of buying their first home together in Brooklyn. George works as an actuary for Liberty Franklin, and Jennifer works as a social worker for an organization called Toodles, a nonprofit that helps support Eastern Orthodox Jews who wish to leave their insular communities. Jennifer is a native New Yorker. She loves the arts, and walks as fast as she talks. George is a country boy from suburban Pennsylvania. He loves to garden and spend time outdoors. Jennifer and George are excited that Park Slope blends a cosmopolitan energy with a wholesome, neighborhood-like feel. They also happen to love the apartment that you are selling. From the charming floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, to the spacious layout of the bedrooms, to the beautiful Juliette balcony, this is truly Jennifer and George’s dream apartment.
Sample 2
Melanie Smith and Jim Smith are longtime residents of the Upper West Side. The engaged couple bonded over their love of the neighborhood and their passion for work in technology sales (she works at Google, and he works at Dell EMC), remaining loyal to their respective companies for over a decade. In their spare time, you can find them trying out new restaurants (especially sushi), rooting on their hometown teams (Steelers vs. Pats), taking power yoga classes, and walking their adorable poodle Jack in Central Park or Riverside Park. The soon-to-be Smiths are counting down to their wedding and could not imagine a better place to build their life together than East Gate.
Sample 3
Eugene has been the Vice President of Google’s Data Science division for eight years. He has been an avid New Yorker since coming to the city in the mid-1990s to attend Columbia University. After graduation, he immediately moved to Brooklyn and has called it home ever since. Eugene is an avid cyclist, beachgoer, and exercise enthusiast. Every morning he rides his bike from his current home in Williamsburg to Prospect Park, where he completes the park loop before starting work. It has been his dream to live by the park for as long as he can remember. To not only live by the park but to do so in such a spectacular apartment, with such beautiful views, would make him the happiest man on earth.
